Director: Gareth Edwards
Screenplay: David Koepp
Runtime: 134 minutes
MPAA Rating: PG‑13 for intense action, some violence, language & drug reference
The Cast: New Faces, Familiar Archetypes
1. Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett: Johansson brings a grounded intensity to her role as the skilled operative. While her performance is solid, some critics note that the human drama occasionally gets overshadowed by the sheer spectacle of the dinosaurs.
2. Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid: Ali delivers a charismatic performance as Zora’s trusted team member and captain of their vessel, “The Essex.
3. Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs: Friend portrays the profit-driven pharmaceutical executive, continuing the franchise’s tradition of morally ambiguous corporate figures.
4, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis: Bailey embodies the role of the intelligent, somewhat naive paleontologist, offering a blend of scientific curiosity and vulnerability.
5. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado:
6. Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda : as the Delgado children
Original stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill will not be making an appearance in this new reboot, which features a completely different cast. Some critics believe that, despite the actors’ best efforts, the human characters frequently lack the depth and development to truly resonate, acting more as vehicles for the dinosaur encounters. This is true even though the new cast members are generally well-received and bring a fresh dynamic.
💡Visuals and Direction: Gareth Edwards’ Signature Scale
“Rebirth,” which was directed by Gareth Edwards, who is well-known for his work on “Godzilla” and “Rogue One,” is visually stunning. John Mathieson’s breathtaking cinematography captures the dinosaurs’ untamed beauty and terrifying strength. Particularly in the scenes with the enormous animals like the earth-shaking Titanosaurus and the sea-dwelling Mosasaurus, Edwards skillfully employs scale and suspense. A new level of fear is added with the introduction of new, genetically modified hybrids such as “Distortus rex” and “Mutadons.”
A thrilling raft escape from a Tyrannosaurus rex is one of the scenes from Michael Crichton’s original “Jurassic Park” novel that the 1993 movie is said to have included. Longtime fans will appreciate this nod to the original work.
